Okay, this was my third time making it. I’ve added one teaspoon salt and I bake it 43 minutes and it is absolutely perfect. I love it! I keep it in the freezer and take out a couple slices at a time to thaw and I eat it with sun-dried tomato turkey, a piece of Swiss cheese and some mayo! Yummy!

This was very easy (used my Kitchen Aid mixer) and it rose beautifully. Only issue was baking time. I baked it almost 35 min and it was still very slightly doughy in the center. I will do close to 40 minutes the next time. Easy delicious recipe!

What’s bread dough; and can I get it at grocery or specialty store?
Red Star Yeast | • Reply
Hi Pam – Did you mean bread ‘flour’? This is available in the baking aisle at the grocery store.

Do you have any nutritional information on the bread 🍞?
I will reserve my rating after my making.
Just bought some sandwich pepperoni yesterday.
Red Star Yeast | • Reply
Hi Athena – We don’t have the nutritional information available, however if you google ‘recipe nutrition calculator’ you’ll find websites that you can plug in the ingredients to get the information. Serving size depends on how thick the slices are, typically 10-12 per loaf.

I made this yesterday and I doubled it using a little more parmesan and It made two wonderful moist breads, I think the bake time is a little short however, but like in all breads use your judgement. I was also surprised that it rose fairly rapidly

Hi
Do you think it can work with Spelt flour, instead of the bread flour?
Thanks ☺
Red Star Yeast | • Reply
Hi Ef,
Spelt flour doesn’t have the same gluten-forming properties as bread flour. You can start out subbing in 1/2 cup of spelt flour with 2 1/2 – 3 1/2 cups bread flour. If that works well for you, try increasing to 1 cups spelt flour. Let us know if you try it!

I only hope it would hold up with the panini maker.

I’m gonna try this tomato basil bread and make it by hand. We have a bread maker but we haven’t used it in years. And it may or may not work. I pulled out the juice man juicer today and it too hasn’t been used in ages! Of course, no go.

Can I make Tomato Basil Bread by hand using same ingredients as shown? Do I preheat the oven?
Red Star Yeast | • Reply
Hi Diane,
Yes, you can make the bread by hand. Warm the spaghetti sauce to 120-130 degrees F. Add 3 cups flour, yeast and cheese to mixing bowl. Whisk to combine. Stir in the warm sauce, adding additional flour until you get a soft dough that comes together. Turn out dough onto floured surface. Knead dough until smooth and elastic (typically 5-7 minutes). Let rise in greased bowl, covered with towel or plastic wrap until doubled in size. Punch down dough, and follow directions in the notes section.
Happy baking!
